My name is Esther J and I am a female carer with eight years of experience in providing care to those in need. My main focus is on hourly and overnight care, and I pride myself in my caring, friendly, and helpful demeanor that has helped me build strong relationships with clients over the years.
My motivation for caring is rooted in my desire to help people lead independent lives. I understand how hard it can be for individuals to rely on others for their basic needs, and so I have made it my mission to ensure that I am there for them every step of the way. Unfortunately, I cannot drive and don't have a car, but I am always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that my clients are comfortable and well-cared for.
In my years of experience, I have gained a wealth of knowledge in providing care for various conditions and illnesses. I am highly skilled in bathing, toileting, assistance with dressing, catheter care, and companionship. I have also cared for clients with mild cognitive impairment, Parkinson's disease, anxiety, and depression. When I'm not caring for others, my hobbies include walking, dancing, cooking, baking, puzzles, and gardening. Additionally, I am comfortable around pets and would be happy to take care of cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, and birds. I am very happy to be asked to supply a reference for Esther Johnson who worked as a night carer for my husband, George, in our home. Esther started at 3 nights/ week( 9 pm- 7 am) in approx nov 2020 but increased to 6 nights/ week after approx 2 months until his death Jan 2022 . She was totally reliable, punctual and flexible( eg about her night off or holidays). Her lovely manner and smile and gentle care enabled her to get co-operation from George whether it was administering medication, changing his pads, feeding him or washing him in bed.Indeed she often used to completely win him over with her humour George had Lewy Body Dementia and as such his sleep pattern was disturbed but Esther coped well with his wakefulness and restlessness. She was 100% honest and trustworthy and always alert to his safety and needs I found her an easy and kind person to get on with and have no hesitation to unreservedly recommend her for a job as a private carer.

My husband had Parkinsons and Dementia and Esther assisted him from 2017 until his death in December 2021. She provided care and companionship for him while I was out at work during the day, and on some evenings and weekends when needed. She also helped to do some housework each week, which was of great assistance to me. Over the years Esther adapted her care as my husband’s needs changed, including safely and patiently giving him food and drink. She also worked happily in a pair with the other carers when providing personal care such a washing and dressing. My husband gradually became totally dependent on others and was non-verbal for several years prior to his death, so it was vital to have a skilled and trusted carer like Esther. Esther was kind, gentle and reliable. It was clear that my husband felt safe and comfortable in her care and enjoyed being with her. I felt confident to leave him, and my home, in Esther’s care and I am more than happy to provide this reference.
